               Nets so far this season

Paul Tagliabue overturns Roger
                Goodell's suspensions of Bounty Players
In sporting news, in what many thought was a moot point by current NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell appointing former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue to handle the appeals process of the current and former New Orleans Saints players in the Bounty Scandal, no one could have ever imagined that Tagliabue would overturn the suspensions.  Well, he did.  He acknowledge the players participated in a performance scheme that rewarded players for bone crushing hits, but laid sole responsibility on the coaches and other personnel in the Saints organization and stated "coaches and managers led a deliberate, unprecedented and effective effort to obstruct the NFL's investigation."  Jonathan Vilma, a current Saint player, still plans to pursue his defamation lawsuit against Goodell.

For your NFL Quick Hits, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall, the leading rusher for the past three seasons, has been suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team, the Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to Jerry Brown at a private memorial Tuesday that included Josh Brent, the player charged with intoxication manslaughter in the one-car accident that killed his teammate, one week after blasting the New York Jets on Twitter, calling them "idiots," Braylon Edwards is one of them…again as the well-traveled wide receiver reunited Tuesday with the Jets, who acquired him on waivers, the New England Patriots placed veteran wide receiver Donte' Stallworth on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday, and finally, the Chicago Bears placed kicker Robbie Gould on injured reserve because of a calf injury suffered Sunday at Minnesota, and used his roster spot to sign veteran Olindo Mare.
