Phil Mickelson win his
1st Open Championship
It was the one of the biggest comebacks and perhaps the biggest choke jobs of the year as the 2013 Open Championship concluded in Scotland with Phil “Lefty” Mickelson being 5 back of the leader at the start of the fourth round but in unbelievable fashion surged past and won his first British Open and 5th major championship with a 3 under par while Steve Westwood and Tiger Woods faltered and finished tied for 3rd and tied for 6th respectfully.

Mike Napoli belts
a walk-off homer
The Boys of Summer were swinging their bats on Sunday as I run down a couple few scores in Major League Baseball as the New York Mets SHUT OUT the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 as Matt Harvey was stellar on the mound with 10 strikes, the LA Dodgers blasted, bamboozled and beat up, Alliteration, I Love It, the Washington Nationals 9-2 as Matt Kemp homered and garnered 3 RBI’s as the Dodgers got the sweep and the San Diego Padres lost by a run 3-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals as pitcher Adam Wainwright won his National League leading 13th win and in the American League, the Oakland A’s SHUT OUT and manhandled the LA Angels 6-0, 6-ZIP, 6-NOTHING as Bartolo Colon reached 13 wins, the Seattle Mariners literally spanked the Houston Astros 12-5 as Nick Franklin launched a Grand Slam and in one of the oldest baseball  rivalries, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees were embroiled in an epic battle with 11 innings played until Mike Napoli belted his 2nd homer of the night in walk-off fashion to oust the Bronx Bombers 8-7.

Glory Johnson
was ballin'
for the Shock
The Ladies of Summer were running their plays on the hard-court on Sunday as the Indiana Fever trounced the Washington Mystics 65-52 as Tamika Catchings notched a double-double with 23 points and 10 boards, the Atlanta Dream had a nightmare as they were literally smacked upside the head 90-63 by the Tulsa Shock as Glory Johnson poured in 24 points and grabbed 10 boards and the Minnesota Lynx got past the Phoenix Mercury 82-77 as Maya Moore came up HUGE when her team needed her most with a 3 pointer, a stolen inbounds pass and a made layup all in the final minute of the game.

Antonio Morrison aka
The Barking Gator was
arrested for a 2nd time....wow
For your Quick News & Notes, Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees will not return from the disabled list because of a Grade 1 strain of his left quadriceps, the United States Men’s Soccer team rolled past El Salvador 5-1 to earn a spot in the Gold Cup semi-finals, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was able to practice Sunday for the first time since undergoing a surgical procedure to remove a cyst in his back in April, Indiana Pacers point guard George Hill has pulled out of this week's Team USA camp in Las Vegas due to an unknown scheduling conflict and finally, Florida Gators linebacker Antonio Morrison has been arrested for allegedly barking at a police dog and resisting arrest and will miss at least the first two games of the season.  And it gets better, his defense for barking at the dog was the dog barked first…..hmmm, I wonder if he was a Q Dawg….HUH?!

Mike Conley, Jr being
interviewed after a
stellar Game 2 performance
Ohhhhhh things heated up in two pairs of Game 2’s last night in the NBA Playoffs as the 2nd seeded New York Knicks were looking to try to even the series against the 3rd seeded Indiana Pacers and to do so the Knicks rode the coat-tails of Carmelo Anthony’s 32 points along with four other teammates who scored in double figures as the Knicks literally spanked the Pacers 105-79 to even the series 1-1 and in the second game, the 5th seeded Memphis Grizzlies were looking to win the game they should have won in the 1st game against top seeded Oklahoma City Thunder and after a slow start by Mike Conley, Jr, he microwaved up and missed a triple-double by one measly assist as he poured in 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Grizzlies even series 1-1 as they dumped the Thunder 99-93.

Former NFL player Titus Young
arrested twice in one day
For your NFL Quick Hits, the Jacksonville Jaguars continue to revamp their secondary, signing free agent cornerback Marcus Trufant, embarrassed by a federal investigation of fraud inside his truck-stop company, Jim Haslam, who purchased the Cleveland Browns last year, apologized Monday night to Browns fans for being a distraction and promised to bring Cleveland a winning team, and finally, former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young was arrested twice in a 15-hour span Sunday, first for making an illegal left turn on Sunday at 12:01a and arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and the second time at 2:22p as he was arrested for burglary after climbing over a fence at a local tow yard as he was looking for his impounded black Mustang.  Arrested twice in 15 hours?  Come on man?!

The Celebration of any person
who accepts Christ
And finally, you probably have heard by now that NBA veteran Jason Collins announced to the world on Monday that he is gay and thus became the first active male athlete in the four major sports to make such proclamation.  Since then, many have applauded and celebrated Collins’ courage, bravery and strength and publically supported his decision and it was at that time the news of the day and now the news of the week and perhaps the top news of the year.  Well, let me give you the greatest news of your lifetime: Jesus went to Calvary to save a wretch like you and me, but that’s not how the story end because three days later he rose again and anytime a person gives their life to Christ, they too should applauded and celebrated for making the best decision of their lifetime.

Stephen Curry couldn't be denied
with his 30 points
against the Nuggets
Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs continued last night with several Game 2’s as the defending champions Miami Heat was led by Dwayne Wade’s 21 points as they go up 2-0 over the Milwaukee Bucks with the 98-86 win, the New York Knicks overcame sluggish 1st half start to hold the Boston Celtics to a franchise low of 23 2nd half playoff points with a 87-71 drubbing of the C’s as Carmelo Anthony lit up the scoreboard with 34 points as the Knicks lead the series 2-0 and the Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets figured offense will win instead defense as the Warriors outran, outpaced and out-scored, Alliteration, I Love It, the Nuggets 131-117 as Stephen Curry was en feugo with 30 points and dished out 10 dimes as the Warriors tied the series 1 game apiece.

A pair Oakland players celebrate
as they embarrassed the Red Sox
Major League Baseball was jammed packed with 17 games as I run down the American League scores with the Miami Marlins thumping the Minnesota Twins 8-5 behind a 16 hit night, the Seattle Mariners loss to the Houston Astros 3-2, inclement weather forced the postponement of the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox game, Suzuki Ichiro’s go ahead single in the 9th propelled the New York Yankees over the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3, the Kansas City Royals had their game postponed against the Detroit Tigers because of rain, while the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3, the Oakland A’s literally spanked and SHUT OUT the Boston Red Sox 13-0, 13 – Zip, 13- Zilch, ouch in only 7 innings as the game was called due to rain, in the 2nd game between the Miami Marlins and the Minnesota Twins, the Twins got the revenge win 4-3 as Oswaldo Arcia belted his 1st career homerun and 11 innings were needed as the Texas Rangers were defeated by the LA Angels 5-4.  Keep in locked and stay tuned for the 2nd Segment for the National League scores.

Mike Brown is back in familiar
territory as he agreed to deal
to coach the Cavs....again
For NBA Quick Dribbles, re-united and feel so good as Mike Brown, who was fired from the LA Lakers last year and fired from Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, have agreed to return to one of league’s worst teams this season in the Cavs as he signed a five year deal worth $20 million dollars, after the Charlotte Bobcats went 21-61 and finished with the second-worst record in the NBA, they fired coach Mike Dunlap after one year, and finally, Indiana Pacers forward Paul George spent the past summer turning himself into a better player and thus was rewarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player.

For your NFL Quick Hits, the NFL is increasing security for this week's draft at Radio City Music Hall, with everyone subject to screenings, including use of metal detectors and pat-downs, and searches of personal property, the NFL Players Association announced a deal Tuesday with an electronic-signature company that will give players being drafted this week, along with their current NFL brethren, access to technology that makes signing a contract as easy as hitting a few buttons on their cellphone versus dealing with an archaic fax machine, and finally, Nike and the Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Tuesday that the team will have new uniforms for the 2013 season….well, hopefully, with the new uni’s, they will also have new inspired play that translates to wins…..huh?!
