            Games were bountiful in the National Basketball Association starting with the double overtime in which the defending champions Miami Heat scored 141 points and the Sacramento Kings 129 as LeBron James put up a 40 spot with 16 dimes and Dwayne Wade scored one less as the duo scored 79 points total, the Brooklyn Nets knocked off the New Orleans Hornets 101-97 with 33 sizzling points from Deron Williams, the Milwaukee edged out the Dallas Mavericks 95-90 with 22 points from Monta Ellis, the Cleveland Cavaliers powered past the Chicago Bulls 101-98 as Deion Waiters notched 25 points, while the Orlando Magic tasted victory with a 98-84 clobbering of the Philadelphia 76ers as the Magic had 6 players score double digits, overtime was needed as the Phoenix Suns got past the Minnesota Timberwolves 84-83 as the Suns also had 6 players that scored in double digits, the Indiana Pacers defeated the Golden State Warriors 108-98 with 28 points from David West, and the Charlotte Bobcats were whipped, walloped and whacked, Alliteration, I Love It, by the LA Clippers 106-84 with 24 points from Blake Griffin.

             Men’s College Basketball was UPSET UNIVERSITY as fans witnessed the top ranked team in the all the land in Indiana get UPSET by unranked Minnesota 77-73 with a big time double-double from Trevor Mbakwe of 21 points and 12 rebounds, 8th ranked Florida was UPSET by unranked Tennessee 64-58 as Jordan McRae was ballin’ with 27 points, 17th ranked Wisconsin manhandled Nebraska 77-46 as Sam Dekker laid in 19 points, and 19th ranked Memphis was UPSET by unranked Xavier 64-62 as Travis Taylor Tallied Ten rebounds and Tabulated 18 points, Alliteration, I Love It!

Vivian Stringer notched her 900th career win as her Lady Scarlett Knights of Rutgers knocked off South Florida 68-56 as Ms. Wheeler scored 24 points, 2nd ranked Norte Dame had to come from behind to outlast 22nd ranked Syracuse 79-68 as Kayla McBride poured in 25 points and #3 UConn literally smoked, literally smacked and literally spanked Pittsburgh 76-36, ouch as Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis put up a double-double of 19 points and 13 boards.

            The National Hockey League laced up their skates last night with nine games on the frozen court as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the New York Rangers 4-3, the Carolina Hurricanes were SHUT OUT and right foot stomped, left foot stomped by the Washington Capitals 3-0, the Dallas Stars needed overtime to get past the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4, the Boston Bruins capsized the New York Islanders 4-1, the Buffalo Sabres edged out the Tampa Bay Lighting 2-1, while the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Florida Panthers 6-4, the Calgary Flames lost in overtime 2-1 to the Minnesota Wild, the Phoenix Coyotes knocked off the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 and the Colorado Avalanche lost in a shoot-out to the San Jose Sharks 3-2.

            The Great American Race #Daytona 500 was capped off with Jimmie Johnson winning his 2nd Daytona 500 since 2006 as he ran past Brad Keselowski on the final restart and for the last six laps, had a commanding lead that no one could challenge.  As for Danica Patrick who won the pole, became the first woman to lead laps in the race as she finished in the 8th spot, which was the highest finish for a woman…..good look Danica.  Rounding out the top five finishers was Dale Earnhardt, Jr in the 2nd, Mark Martin in 3rd, the aforementioned Keselowski was 4th and Ryan Newman was 5th.

            The National Basketball Association had nine gigantic games on Sunday as my LA Lakers kicked off the festivities with a major win over the Dallas Mavericks 103-99 as Kobe Bryant dropped 38 points and 13 boards on the Mavs, the Golden State Warriors eked out a one point 100-99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves as Jarrett Jack poured in 23 points, the Cleveland Cavaliers came up short against the defending champions Miami Heat 109-105 as LeBron lite it up with 28 points, the Sacramento Kings were blasted by the New Orleans Hornets 110-95 with 20 points from Anthony Davis, the Memphis Grizzlies knocked off the Brooklyn Nets 76-72 with a man-sized double-double from Zach Randolph of 16 points and 14 rebounds, while the New York Knicks got back in the win column over the Philadelphia 76ers 99-93 with 29 points from Carmelo Anthony, the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a victory over the Phoenix Suns 97-87 with 16 points from Patty Mills and Kawhi Leonard, Wesley Matthews threw down 24 points as the Portland Trailblazers snuffed out the Boston Celtics 92-86 and the OKC Thunder simply befuddled, simply blew up and simply baptized, Alliteration, I Love It, the Chicago Bulls 102-72, ouch, as Russell Westbrook led with 23 points.

             After a day of lackluster trades in the National Basketball Association, which I will run down in a few, but there were only two games that showcased on TNT as the defending champions Miami Heat molliwoped the Chicago Bulls 86-67 for their ninth straight victory as LeBron James had a monster game of 26 points, 12 boards and 7 assists and the San Antonio Spurs in the 2nd game not only manhandled the LA Clippers, but they beat them like they stole the Alamo, ohhhh weeee, 116-90 as Tony Parker continues to make his case for MVP honors with 31 points.

            Men’s College Basketball only had two ranked games as well as Cal UPSET #23 Oregon 48-46 as Justin Cobb not only led all scorers with 14 points, but he also nailed a long range jumper with .7 seconds left in the game that shook up the Oregon and the with settled in the 6th spot in the AP Poll, they laid down the hammer on Virginia Tech 88-56 with 22 points from Seth Curry.

            

            As the trade deadline expired on Thursday at 3pm EST, here are the players that are on the move:
•           Orlando Magic traded veteran shooting guard J.J. Redick, along with center Gustavo Ayon and reserve point guard Ish Smith to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guards Doron Lamb and Beno Udrih and forward Tobias Harris

•           The Orlando Magic also acquired forward Hakim Warrick and cash considerations from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Josh McRoberts, but they intend to waive Warrick.
•           The Boston Celtics acquired third-year guard Jordan Crawford from the Washington Wizards for guard Leandro Barbosa and center Jason Collins
•           The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Ronnie Brewer from the New York Knicks for a 2014 second-round pick and cash considerations and the Thunder also sent point guard Eric Maynor to the Portland Trail Blazers for a $2.2 million trade exception
•           The Phoenix Suns have traded backup point guard Sebastian Telfair to the Toronto Raptors for center Hamed Haddadi and a second-round pick
•           The Sacramento Kings sent the #5 overall pick in Thomas Robinson to the Houston Rockets along with Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt in exchange for Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich and Toney Douglas and the Kings received $1 million in the transaction.
•           The Houston Rockets also dealt forward Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a second-round draft pick in June
•           Lastly, although not trade, the New York Knicks signed veteran Kenyon Martin to a 10 day contract

            The Lovely Ladies in Women’s College Basketball had six ranked games on the hard-court last night as 8th ranked Maryland powered past Boston College 86-61 as Alyssa Thomas was ballin’ with a season high of 30 points while pulling down 11 rebounds, 10th ranked Texas A&M simply befuddled Ole Miss 82-53 as Kelsey Bone showed up and she showed out with a big time double-double of 24 points and 17 glass grabbing career high rebounds, 11th ranked Tennessee clawed up the Lady Tigers of Auburn 81-63 with 24 points from Meighan Simmons, while 13th ranked Georgia literally spanked Arkansas 66-34, ouch as the Lady Bulldogs sets the school record for fewest points allowed in a SEC game, 14th ranked Drayton barely escaped St. Bonaventure 67-63 with a double-double from Ally Mallott and 24th ranked Nebraska did a number on Michigan 57-39 with 14 points and 12 rebounds from Jordan Hooper.

            After an Awesome All Star Weekend, the National Basketball Association was back in action with nine jammed packed games as the San Antonio Spurs barely got past the Sacramento Kings 108-102 with Tony Parker’s double-double of 30 basket filling points and 11 assists, the Phoenix Suns edged out the Portland Trailblazers 102-98 with 18 points from Luis Scola, the Toronto Raptors got the best of the Washington Wizards 96-88 as Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan each poured in 24 points, the Charlotte Bobcats notched the 105-92 win over my home-city Orlando Magic as Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson also poured in 24 points, the Brooklyn Nets needed OT to get past the Milwaukee Bucks 113-111 as Joe Johnson nailed a buzzer beating jumper to seal the deal, while the Memphis Grizzlies knocked off the Detroit Pistons 105-91 with Mike Conley’s 19 points, the Chicago Bulls used Loul Deng’s 20 points to cruise past the New Orleans Hornets 96-87, the Denver Nuggets outlasted the Boston Celtics 97-90 with Ty Lawson and Danilo Gallinari both acquiring 26 points and the Golden State Warriors were blasted by the Utah Jazz 115-101 with 24 points from Al Jefferson.

            Men’s College Basketball was ballin’ last night with six ranked games on the docket as top ranked Indiana holds on to get the 72-68 win over 4th ranked Michigan State with 19 points from Victor Olidipo, don’t stop let’s get heated, the Miami Hurricanes are undefeated in the ACC as they survived yet again another tough challenge from Virginia with the 54-50 win with Reggie Johnson’s tie-breaking layup with 5.8 seconds remaining, 5th ranked Florida was UPSET by unranked Missouri 63-60 as the Tigers wiped away a 13 point deficit, while Butler manhandled Duquesne 68-49 with 16 points from Rotnei Clarke, 17th ranked Marquette whipped, walloped and whacked, Alliteration, I Love It, Seton Hall 67-46 as Vander Blue blew up for 19 points and 24th ranked VCU was UPSET by unranked Saint Louis 76-62 as Jordair Jett jetted off  bench to net 16 points.

            The National Hockey League had eight games on the frozen court as the Winnipeg Jets got past the Buffalo Sabres 2-1, the Montreal Canadiens outskated the New York Rangers 3-1, the New York Islanders were trounced by the Ottawa Senators 3-1, the Toronto Maple Leafs were knocked off by the Tampa Bay Lighting, while the San Jose Sharks defeated the St. Louis Blues 2-1, overtime was needed as the Nashville Predators won 4-3, a shoot-out decided the game between the Vancouver Cancucks and the Chicago Black Hawks and the Blackhawks prevailed 4-3 and the defending champions in the LA Kings breezed by the Edmonton 3-1.

The 2013 NBA All Star Game in the city where I reside concluded on Sunday and as usual the All Stars put on a show as Carmelo Anthony lead all scorers with 26 points for the East and lead with 12 boards, while Dwayne Wade lead the East with 7 assists and for the West, Blake Grifin was in highlight reel with several thunderous dunks as Kevin Durant’s shooting was scorching hot as he finished with a game high of 30 points, Kobe Bryant only scored 9, but had 8 assists and locked down defense on LeBron James in the final minutes of the game as he blocked James twice and Chris Paul of the LA Clippers became the first Clipper to take home MVP honors with his 20 points and 15 dimes as the West took it to the East 143-138.

Men’s College Basketball was getting their groove on with five ranked games as #3 Miami escaped Clemson with a 45-43 slugfest win over Clemson to maintain their undefeated dominance in the ACC, 4th ranked Michigan survived a slow 1st half to get past Penn State 79-71 as Trey Burke was lighting up the nets with 29 points, 12th ranked Louisville stymied South Florida 59-41 with 15 points from Russ Smith, while 9th ranked Arizona avoided a collapse against Utah by notching the 68-64 win as Mark Lyons poured in 18 points and 13th Ohio State was literally spanked and UPSET  by 20th ranked Wisconsin 71-49 as Ben Brust Busted the Basket for 15 points and Banged the Boards, Alliteration, I Love It, for 11.
