Avery Bradley's game
winning three
The Eastern Conference Finals shifted to The Land last night for Game 3 as the Boston Celtics, playing without their leading scorer and star point guard in Isaiah Thomas, were looking to stave off the Cleveland Cavaliers and avoid going down 0 – 3 for the series, had a tall task to tame, Alliteration, I Love It! The Cavs pretty much picked up where they left off in Games 1 & 2, as they raced out to a 66 – 50 halftime lead. But in the 2nd half, the Celtics on the advice of their head coach stated “if we fight hard enough, they will let us back into this game” and that’s exactly what happened as the Celtics kept knocking on the door and the Cavs let them back in as Marcus Smart got the start and came up Big Time with 27 points and he went for 7 for 10 from behind the arc and posted career best playoff numbers in points, field goals at 8 and three point field goals at 7. But the Seal the Deal Moment came in the waning seconds of the game as Avery Bradley’s three danced around the rim before dropping through the net with less than a second left and the Celtics upset the Cavaliers 111 – 108 to notch their first win of the series. Kyrie Irvin, Kevin Love and Tristen Thompson each had a huge game for the Cavs, but it was their leader in LeBron James who had one of his worst playoff performances of his career and finished with just 11, a career low in points at home in the playoffs, but he did contribute 6 rebounds and 6 assists had this to say about his game….

Game 4 will be on Tuesday night and the Celtics now have reason to believe they can tie up the series 2 games apiece.

LeBron James wins the
Citizenship Award
For your Quick News & Notes, of the five finalists in line for the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, voted on by the Professional Basketball Writers Association, which is approximately 200 writers and editors who cover the NBA, voted LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 2016 – 2017 recipient. James was honored in large part to his dedication to improving the educational opportunities of disadvantaged youth in his hometown of Akron, OH

NBA Western Conference Finals Feat. Scores, Stats, News, Big Momma & Special Birthday Shout! May 21, 2017: Vol. II, 24th Edition

O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; as Thou hast been Thou forever will be. Great is Thy faithfulness! A little old school for ya!

Durant taking Gason to school!
Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals popped off again last night without Kahwi Leonard, star of the San Antonio Spurs as they searched their first win of this series against the Golden State Warriors and it was the Spurs that came out inspired as they were very competitive and outscored the Warriors 33 – 29 in the 1st frame as the Spurs matched a postseason high in points in a period. But the Warriors reversed the course in the 2nd quarter and outscored the Spurs and the Warriors took a 64 – 55 lead into halftime. When the 2nd half commenced, the Spurs were without their backup power forward in David Lee as he injured his leg on a play in the 1st half as the game was a little tighter, but the Warriors had too much firepower with 55% shooting from the field and 41% from downtown as they put it in cruise control and coasted to a 120 – 108 victory as Kevin Durant had a sizzling 33 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double and Steph Curry finished with 21 and snatched 6 steals as he became the franchise leader in postseason points surpassing Hall of Famer Rick Barry with 1,774 points. Game 4 will be back in San Antonio on Monday night as the Spurs will put up another inspiring effort to avoid being swept.

Enis Kanter arrived in London en route
to the United States after being detained
For your Quick News & Notes, Isaiah Thomas, star point guard for the Boston Celtics, who re-aggravated a hip injury in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, has been shut down for the remainder of the series, after the above mentioned game, the Spurs David Lee received confirmation that he partially tore his left patella tendon and is done for the rest of the playoff season and finally, because of his outspoken political views on his country in Turkey, Enis Kanter, center for the Oklahoma City Thunder, had his passport canceled by his home country and was not allowed into Romania and detained for several hours. But with some phone calls from the league office and a little this and a little of that, Kanter is on his way back to the good ole US of A. As somebody’s Big Momma would say, gone and sit down somewhere, go head…go and sit down somewhere!

Happy Birthday!!!
This sports segment is dedicated to one of my favorite clients and most definitely my friend as Suzanne Chadwell celebrates the day she was birthed into this world. Happy Birthday Suzanne! NBA Eastern Conference Finals Feat. Scores, NBA Award Nominations & An Encouraging Word! May 20, 2017: Vol. II, 23rd Edition

Sometimes you have to speak the word over yourself, the pressure is all around but God is present help. The enemy created walls but remember giants, they do fall! Speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord!

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening! Whichever time of day you find your ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! LeBron said not my house...OR
your house!!
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals played out last night in Boston as the Celtics looked to even the series against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cavs started where they left off from Game 1 as they sprinted out to 32 - 18 lead, which was aided by the Celtics anemic shooting percentage of 28% from the field and 6% less than that from the arc.  And if matters couldn’t get any worse, the Celtics lost their star point and leading scorer in Isaiah Thomas, who only scored 2 points in the first half due to a previous hip injury and did not return in the second half and his status for Game 3 is uncertain. Welp, the Cavs went on to record an NBA playoff record of 41 points in a half, most points scored by the franchise and tied a NBA record with 13 consecutive playoff victories as the Cavs stymied, stifled and steamrolled, Alliteration, I Love It, the Celtics 130 – 86! Ohhhweee! LeBron James clocked in for 33 minutes of work and notched 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks...not bad for less than three quarters of work and Kevin Love continues his love fest as he posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds.

You KIA MVP Finalists
For your Quick News & Notes, San Antonio Spurs star Kahwi Leonard, who didn't participate in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, is listed as questionable for tonight's Game 3, the offensive brainpower of Chris Finch may go to work for the New Orleans Pelicans as he is close to signing a deal to become an assistant head coach with the team. Russell Westbrook of the Thunder, Kahwi Leonard of the Spurs and James Harden of the Rockets were named KIA MVP Finalists as LeBron James of the Cavs was left off the ballot. The Sixth Man of the Year Award will either go to Andre Igoudala of the Warriors or from the Rockets, Lou Williams or Eric Gordon. Giannis Antetokounmp of the Bucks is leading the pack for Most Improved award, followed by Nicola Jokic of the Nuggets and Rudy Gobert of the Jazz. The 76'ers have three teammates vying for the same award for Rookie of the Year as Joel Embiid, Dario Saric and Malcolm Brogdon each are looking to take home the hardware. Defensive Player of the Year nominees include the Warriors Draymond Green, the Spurs Kahwi Leonard and the Jazz's Rudy Gobert and finally, Coach on the Year will either go to Mike D'Antoni of the Rockets, Gregg Poppovich of the Spurs or Eric Spoelstra of the Heat. The award ceremony will be held on June 26, live at Basketball City in the Big Apple.

NBA Eastern Conference Finals Feat. Scores, News, ZO2 & An Encouraging Word! May 18, 2017: Vol. II, 22nd Edition

Sometimes you have to encourage yourself….sometimes you have to speak victory during the test! And no matter how you feel, speak the word and you will be healed! Speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord!

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening! Whichever time of day you find your ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! The Celtics had not
answer for LeBron James
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals battled on the hard court last night as the top seeded Boston Celtics faced off against the #2 seeded and well rested Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Cavs showed no rust from the nine day rest and raced to a 30 – 19 1st period shellacking and the 2nd frame was much like the 1st as both teams each scored one additional point and the Cavs took a 61 – 39 lead into half-time. In the 2nd half, the Celtics actually won both quarters, but the mountain was too steep for them climb to really make difference as the Cavs rattled, rolled and romped, Alliteration, I Love It, the Celtics 117 – 104 as LeBron James led all scorers with a scorching 38 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and he got some love from Kevin Love as he scored a playoff career high of 32 points and grabbed 12 boards for a double-double as the Cavs steal home court advantage to take a 1 – 0 series lead.

Kahwi Leonard's injury has
triggered a lawsuit
For your Quick News & Notes, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who is recovering from a spinal leak procedure, will join the team in San Antonio as they tango with the Spurs, Nike, Under Armour and Adidas scoffed at the notion of partnering with LaVar Balls’ Big Baller Brand for $1 Billion dollars and now that the LA Lakers have the #2 pick in the draft and his son Lonzo will only work out for the Lakers, the elder Ball proclaimed the price has increased to $3 Billion stating quote “if they want to talk to me know, it just went up $3 Billion, Triple B’s, billion, billion, billion”. Welp, you can’t knock his hustle as it is apparently working. And finally, since ZaZa Pachulia’s defensive play against Kahwi Leonard that re-injured his left ankle in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals that rendered Leonard unable to play in Game 2 and possibly in Game 3, a devoted Spurs fan, Juan Vasquez and a local San Antonio memorabilia store, has filed a lawsuit against Pachulia and also names the Golden State Warriors as defendants. The lawsuit alleges Leonard’s lack of availability diminishes the value of the tickets and some of the demands named in the suit include damages not to exceed $73,000 and a temporary restraining order. Three words….Come On Man!

NBA Western Conference Finals Feat. Scores, Draft Lottery & An Encouraging Word! May 17, 2017: Vol. II, 21st Edition

It's by the grace of God that I'm still here today. He was always there, no matter what came my way. I felt the presence of Him, in my time of need…standing right there, just to sill my faith!
Through it all I've made it through, another day's journey, because God kept me here!

Curry rises up over
Aldridge for 2 of his 29
Game 2 of the Kahwi-less Western Conference Finals was unleashed last night as the Golden State Warriors unleashed their fury against the San Antonio Spurs as the Warriors went 0 – 100 real quick in the 1st period and raced to a 33 – 16 lead and although the Spurs gathered themselves in the 2nd frame by scoring 28 points, the Warriors scored more in the 2nd period than the 1st with 39 as they led 72 – 44 at half-time. The 2nd half was much more aligned, but the Spurs hole was so deep they couldn’t see the light from tunnel as they were smashed, spanked and smothered, Alliteration, I Love It, by the Warriors 136 – 100 as Steph Curry finished with a game high of 29 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals all in three quarters while Patrick McCaw notched 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Warriors finished with 39 assists, over 48% from downtown and over 94% from the charity stripe as they take a 2 – 0 series to the Lone Star State for Game 3 on Saturday.

The Celtics finished with #1 pick
The NBA Draft Lottery took place last night and as customary, the teams that pick in the top three usually finish with most the losses of the seasons. That that did occur as the Philadelphia 76’ers will pick 3rd, my LA Lakers will pick 2nd under new management and the Boston Celtics, who not only finished with top seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs and will face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, they will also have the #1 pick, which is the first that has ever happened. The luck of the Irish I guess!

NBA Eastern Conference Semifinal Feat. Scores, News, Special Birthday Shout Out & An Encouraging Word! May 16, 2017: Vol. II, 20th Edition

Lied on, many times I've been lied on. Burdens, I had to bare so many burdens; dark days and disappointments, I've had my share of them both! But through it all I've made it through, another day's journey because God kept me here!

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening! Whichever time of day you find your ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! Kelly Olynyk showed up
to play!!
The first Game 7 of these NBA Playoffs raged on last night as the home team Boston Celtics were trying to claim victory and advanced, but so was the Washington Wizards. The 1st and 2nd period was a see-saw as the Celtics outscored the Wizards in the 1st, but Wizards held their weight on that see-saw and lead the charge in the 2nd frame and took a 2 point lead into halftime. But after halftime, the C’s went on a 13 – 3 run in the 3rd period and by the opening minutes of the 4th, the run grew to 22 – 5. But the Wiz’s went on a run themselves and closed the gap to 6 points, but they couldn’t contain the Big Shot Ability of Kelly Olynyk as he made shot after shot after shot after shot as he scored his playoff career high of 26 points and his point guard, Isaiah Thomas notched a double-double with 26 points and 12 dimes as the Celtics sent the Wizards packing 115 – 105 as they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals to face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wizards out rebounded the Celtics 43 – 31, but the biggest difference came from the bench as the Celtics dominated the Wizards bench 48 – 5. Ouch.

Goodyear and the Cavaliers
partner together
For your Quick News & Notes, Kahwi Leonard, the San Antonio Spurs star, who re-injured his left ankle twice in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors, had a MRI that revealed no structural damage and has officially been ruled out for tonight’s Game 2 tonight, Andre Igoudala’s MRI on his sore left know also revealed no structural damage but continues to have soreness and is questionable for tonight’s game and finally, tire manufacturer Goodyear, who are based in Akron, OH will have their Wingfoot logo displayed on the uniform of the Cleveland Cavaliers starting next season. According to Eric Smallwood of Apex Marketing Group, the value of deal for Goodyear being in clear view on TV, could be from $7 - $10 million dollars and with other factors, such as video games, trading cards and social media, those numbers could swell to $30 million dollars.

Heartaches & trouble, I've had my shares of them both. Bruises, I've taken my lumps and bruises and loneliness, I've had my share of loneliness. But through it all I've made it through, another day's journey because God kept me here!

Steph Curry rises up to net
a total of 40!
Game 1 of Western Conference Finals kicked off on Sunday in Oakland as the Golden State Warriors hosted the San Antonio Spurs and for the first half of the game, it appeared that the Spurs were hosting the Warriors as they raced out to a 20 point lead at halftime with a score of 62 – 42. During halftime, the Warriors received a pep talk from their head coach Steve Ker, who is on a leave of absence, pressed upon them to get three stops in a row. In the 3rd frame, it was the Warriors that came out running and gunning as they outscored the Spurs 39 – 28 led by Steph Curry and midway through the same frame, the Spurs Kahwi Leonard tweaked his injured ankle after stepping a on a teammates foot on the bench and it was exacerbated again later in the 3rd, when Zaza Pachulia contested a jumper from Leonard and he came down on Pachulia’s foot and would leave the game and not return. In the 4th, Kevin Durant led the charge as the Warriors outscored the Spurs 32 – 21 and eventually muscled the game away from the Spurs with a 113 – 111 victory as Curry was lights out with 40 points and on 26 shots to go along with 6 assists and Durant was 6 points behind and notched 34 himself as the Warriors lead the series 1 – 0.

Steve Kerr (left) having a laugh with
Steph Curry
For your Quick News & Notes, I mentioned the Warriors received a pep talk from Steve Kerr during half-time as he was back at the facility after he received treatment for a spinal fluid leak and it is still undetermined when he will be back on the sideline, Kahwi Leonard’s status for Game 2 is unknown and he believes that Zaza did not try to injure him, Andre Igoudala of the Warriors will have an MRI today to see if there is any damage to his sore left knee and resting a game is an option on the table and finally, the Warriors overcoming a 25 point deficit was the largest in conference finals history in 15 years.

John Wall the eventual game
winning shot...a 3 point dagger!
There were a few sweeps and several game 6’s that determined who advanced during these NBA Playoffs, but not a Game 7 as the Boston Celtics went to the Capital to face off against the Washington Wizards. If history has its way, the home team has won every game during this particular series and also during the regular season as the Celtics showed up dressed in all black “funeral” attire to bury the Wizards and the game went down to the wire! With 28.7 left in the 4th, Bradley Beal of the Wizards, who had a game high of 33 points, hit a two to tie the game at 89 and Al Horford of the Celtics said if you can, so can I and hit a classic mid-range jumper to take the lead at 91 – 89 with 7.7 left. But John Wall, who finished with 26 points, said not so fast my friend and wasn’t ready to go home, hit his first go ahead 3 pointer that eventually sealed the deal 92 – 91 as the Wizards force a Game 7 on Monday night and head back to Boston as both will try to put this series….to rest.

LaMarcus Aldridge put in work
in Game 6
Game 6 in the remaining Western Conference Semifinal was on tap last night as the Houston Rockets were looking to save their season against the San Antonio Spurs and they had good reason to be totally confident as the Spurs were without Tony Parker, their starting point guard and Kahwi Leonard, their star player. Welp, their confidence didn’t match their play as the Spurs were up 19 points at halftime and nothing changed after that as the Spurs went on to manhandle, mangle and mistreat, Alliteration, I Love It, the Rockets 114 – 75 to win the series 4 – 2 as LaMarcus Aldridge was like Dottie Peoples’ hit gospel song, he Showed Up and he Showed Out with 34 points and 12 rebounds as he advances to the Western Conference title game of the first time in his career and became the first Spur to post those number in a playoff game since Tim Duncan against Phoenix in 2008.  No Kahwi, No Problem as Jonathan Simmons was inserted into the starting lineup and produced 18 points. As for James Harden of the Rockets, he put the blame squarely on himself and his rhythm as he only scored 10 points and 6 turnovers, one shy of the entire Spurs team. Ouch.
James Hardel was....well, the pic
says it all!

This sports segment is dedicated to my Godson, Micah in my home city of Orlando, FL as today is his birthday! Happy Birthday young fellow and I pray that God Blesses you with many more prosperous birthdays yet to come.

NBA Takeover Playoff Edition Feat. Scores, News & An Encouraging Word! May 11, 2017: Vol. II, 16th Edition

You are God alone, from before time began. You were on Your throne, You are God alone.
And right now, in the good times and bad, You are on Your throne, You are God and God all alone.

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening! Whichever time of day you find your ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! Avery Bradly rising up for 3
of his 29 points
Game 5 in the last remaining Eastern Conference Semifinal witnessed the smallest guy on the court in Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics at 5’ 9” being a screen setter for big man Al Horford at 6’ 10”! Let that marinate. While the Washington Wizards focused their defensive efforts on Thomas, the brilliant screen setting freed up Horford as he was surgical with the rock as he dominated with 19 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 monster blocks. While Horford was surgical, Avery Bradley had precision as he notched a game high of 29 points which generated a playoff career high and Thomas made all the right moves as he finished with 19 points and 9 dimes as the Celtics bamboozled, befuddled and baffled, Alliteration, I Love It, the Wizards 123 – 101 as the Celtics take a 3 – 2 series lead as the Wizards head back home for Game 6 and it doesn’t bode well for them since they haven’t won a game while facing elimination since 1988.

Travis Scott designed T-shirt
for the Rockets Game 6
For your Quick News & Notes, Isaiah Thomas was fined $25,000 for his inappropriate comments toward a Washington Wizards fan during Game 4 in Washington, San Antonio Spurs Kahwi Leonard, who suffered a sprain ankle in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets, stated he will play in the potential closeout Game 6 and finally, speaking of the Rockets, Houston native and rapper Travis Scott in collaboration with the organization, designed T-shirts for Game 6 here in Houston that will state ‘Run As One’ on the front of the shirt.

Manu came up with a BIG TIME
block on Harden
There was only one game on tap last night and it played out in the last remaining Western Conference Semifinal series as the Houston Rockets journeyed back up I-10 West albeit via private jet, to face off against the San Antonio Spurs in a pivotal Game 5. The game was pretty much tight throughout the contest and so tight that overtime was needed to decipher an ultimate winner. But Kahwi Leonard wouldn’t play a part in the overtime session as he sprained his ankle in the second half and finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double and Danny Green had to carry the Spurs in OT as he scored 7 of the Spurs 9 points and 39 year old Manu Ginobili came up with huge block, which was a potential game tying three point attempt against James Harden, to secure the win 110 – 107 as the Spurs now go back to Houston for Game 6. Just as a side note, the Rockets have lost four consecutive best of seven series when tied two games apiece.

Remix of what I can buy
for $495 #UNameIt
For News & Notes, the face of the Utah Jazz in Gordon Hayward, who can opt out of the last year of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent or resign with the Jazz, hasn’t given much thought about the subject and wanted to spend some with his family before deciding on what the next chapter will be for him and finally, LaVar Ball, outspoken father of Lonzo Ball, who could be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, quipped when Shannon Sharpe, co-host of Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed”, that Michael Jordan couldn’t command a selling price of $495 for shoes, the elder Ball agreed and stated “Because he ain't Lonzo Ball, that's why”! Welp, during my show last week I told you what I could buy for $495 and in case you missed it, let me tell you again what I can buy for $495……beans, I do like lima beans…..greens, collard greens they good…..potatoes, tomatoes…..potatoes, yes, tomatoes ehhhhh…..lamb, rams….I do like lamb and the only ram I know about was in the bush! Hogs, no swine at any time! What else can I buy for $495? Dogs, chicken, turkeys, rabbits….You Name It! Reeeeeemix! I crack myself up!

NBA Takeover Playoff Edition Feat. Scores, News & Notes & An Encouraging Word! May 9, 2017: Vol. II, 14th Edition

Yes there were times in my life when I thought I would never make it. I almost went down, I was out for the count, I was through. But it was then, when I thought it would end, that I stood up again! What hell meant for evil God turned it around for my good! He Turned It!!

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening! Whichever time of day you find your ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! The Warriors sweeeeep the Jazz
Welp, just like the Cleveland Cavaliers swept their opponents in the 1st and 2nd rounds, the Golden State Warriors had their own sweep and the Warriors set a franchise record with eight straight playoff wins to start a postseason. The Warriors were like a Maserati, started fast out of the gate and went on a 39 – 17 run in the 1st period, but the Utah Jazz were not going away easily as they went on a 35 – 21 run in the 2nd period. However comma after halftime, the Warriors put the Rati on cruise control at 103 MPH and glanced every now and again in the rearview mirror and went on to stymie, stifle and stall, Alliteration, I Love It, the Jazz 121 – 95. Steph Curry carried the load last night and was very efficient with 30 points on 15 shots  along with 7 assists and Draymond Green notched his 3rd career postseason triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 dimes. Green also was smothering on the defensive end as the Jazz were 5 – 15 when guarded by him and Green defended the most shots for the Warriors as they now wait, and wait, and wait some for the winner of the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs series.
Draymond Green notched a
triple-double

For News and Notes, much like the San Antonio Spurs losing a player for the remainder of the playoffs due to an injury, Houston Rockets reserve big man Nene also will miss the remainder of the playoffs because of a torn left adductor, the NBA launched NBA Academy, which is an elite training center in India to tap into and develop new talent. According to Kendrick Perkins, former teammate of Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook in Oklahoma, indicated the freeze is over and Durant and West are on speaking terms and finally, Dwight Howard was pulled over the morning of the Atlanta Hawks Game 6 for speeding. No biggie, I speed all the time. But the difference between me and Howard, besides the Audi Rs7 that he was driving which is a weeee bit out of my budget, the car wasn’t registered and had no insurance! Come on man!!! All the paper, cheddar, loot you have and no insurance! SMH, SMH.
