stands for….Google it! Ha! Nonetheless comma I digress as I Sprinkle a Little
Spiritually in your Sports! It’s your uncle, your next door neighbor looking
out for ya and your shoulder, when you need to lean! Without further delay, Let’s Get It On!!!
Last
segment, I provided the highlights from the MEAC and now it’s time to represent
the Southwestern Athletic Conference aka the SWAC as they too had a plethora of
non-conference games as Southern was smacked by UT San Antonio 51 – 17 as quarterback
Dalton Sturm racked up 292 yards and four scores, while Arkansas State
blindsided Arkansas Pine Bluff 48 – 3 with 5 TD’s and 336 yards from
quarterback Justice Hansen. Deep in the South in the state of Alabama, South
Alabama SHUT OUT Alabama A&M 45 – 0 with TD’s from quarterback Dallas
Davis, Alcorn State held on tight but fell to McNeese State 34 – 27 as the
Braves quarterback Lenorris Footman, did his best to keep Alcorn in the game
with 424 passing yards, ohhh weeee and not one, not two, but three TD’s.
Meanwhile, Prairie View was ravished by Nicholls State 44 – 13 as running back
Kyran Irvin notched 2 scores, while there was one lone SWAC game as Grambling
overcame eight penalties to outlast Jackson State 36 -21 with quarterback
Devante Kincaid racking up 255 yards and a score and finally, Kennesaw State
used a balanced offensive attack and a strong defense with three interceptions
to defeat Alabama State 20 – 14.
This sports segment is dedicated to all first
responders, National Guard, civilians, neighbors, various organizations and
many, many more who gave of their time, their donations, their prayers, their
money, their blood and so much more to help those in dire need from the ill
effects of Hurricane Irma in my home state of Florida….may God each bless you
all.
