Week 5 kicked off in the MEAC on Saturday with only two games on the gridiron as the Savannah State Tigers traveled to the Mighty Wildcats of Bethune Cookman and behind the rushing strength of Jamaruz Thompkins of 126 rushing yards and a TD, Bethune Cookman breezed by Savannah 24 – 12 and North Carolina Central dominated South Carolina State 21 – 7 as quarterback Lamar Raynard had 298 passing yards and 2 TD’s.

The SWAC on the other hand had a plethora of games on tap on Saturday as Arkansas-Pine Bluff was steamrolled by Alabama A&M 27 – 14 with two TD’s from running back Trevon Walters, Prairie View didn’t mess around and ran all over Jackson State 38 – 9 as
quarterback Lavall McCullers passed for 190 yards and two scores. Charleston South journeyed down to the Sip and simply powered passed, pummeled and pasted, Alliteration, I Love It, Mississippi Valley State 58 – 7 as running back Terrence Wilson only rushed twice but amassed 106 yards with two TD’s and the Buccaneers had a total of 359 rushing yards on the day…ooohhweee! And to add insult to injury, the Bucs held the Delta Devils to a negative 24 yards rushing…..ouch!  Over in the Creole State of Louisiana, Southern manhandled Fort Valley State 31 – 14 with 141 rushing yards from Hebert Edwards and finally, Grambling notched the win over Clark-Atlanta 31 – 20 as quarterback Jonathan McCrary passed for a scorching 371 yards and two TD’s to boot!
