ears listening to the sound that is flowing from your speakers! This is CeeJay,
C-E-E-J-A-Y! Welcome back to CeeJay’s Spiritual Sports Segment HBCU Edition for
the 2017 –’18 Football Season as I Sprinkle a Little Spiritually in your
Sports! It’s your uncle, your next door neighbor looking out for ya and your
shoulder, when you need to lean! Without further delay, Let’s Get It On!!
It’s
Week 12 in college football and the MEAC had their plate full of games as it
was the last weekend for the regular season which in some cases meant Rivalry
Week, but I start with Florida State with their losing record hosted their
cupcake in Delaware State and the Seminoles ate good as they blasted the
Hornets 77 – 6, Hampton U and Howard U faced off in the The Battle of Real HU as
Hampton edged Howard 20 – 17 as Yahkee Johnson rushed the rock for 144 yards
and two scores in what could be the last match up between the schools as
Hampton announced earlier in the week they are leaving the MEAC for the Big
South Conference. Norfolk State hung 45 points against Morgan State’s 32 points
with two rushing scores from Aaron Savage. Meanwhile, undefeated North Carolina
A&T hosted their rival in North Carolina Central and A&T muscled passed
Central 24 – 10 as Marquell Wright knocked down the goal line door with two
rushing scores as A&T outright claims the MEAC title, Savannah State
demolished, decimated and dominated, Alliteration, I Love It, their rival in
South Carolina State 34 – 10 as freshman quarterback D’Vonn Gibbons threw for
267 yards and two TD’s and finally, the Florida Classic in my home state pitted
FAMU against Bethune Cookman and at the top of the 4th quarter, the
Rattlers were taming the Wildcats 24 – 10, but a 19 point swing by The Mighty Wildcats
snatched the venom and victory from the Rattlers 29 – 24 as Larry Brihm, Jr passed
for 280 yards and accounted for not one, not two, but three TD’s, one in air
and two on the ground as Bethune won their 7th consecutive Florida
Classic.
Here are your final MEAC standings
as mentioned earlier, A&T finished with an undefeated season, Howard and
Bethune Cookman finished tied at 6-2 and Central and Hampton also tied and
finished with a record of 5-3.
