When you sleep in your own bed, it’s just more comfortable than many hotels. When eat your own food at home or in a familiar environment, the food typically tastes better! When you drive in your own whip, you have a little more swag. Why do I say all of this? The Cleveland Cavaliers had home cooking as they were back in The Land for Game 3 of the NBA Finals and were leaning on that home cooking to avoid down 0 – 3 to the Golden State Warriors and both teams came out running and gunning in the 1st period. But as the Warriors have done 22 times before, when they score at least 35 points in the 1st, they were 23 – 0 during the season, and they outscored the Cavs 39 – 32, but the Cavs tightened up things in the 2nd and won that period, but went down 67 – 61 at halftime, despite the scoring prowess of Kyrie Irving. And then came the 3rd. The Cavs had the Warriors right where they wanted and Irving finally Showed Up and Showed Out with 38 scorching points and LeBron James himself, who passed Sam Jones, Bill Russell and Elgin Baylor, to move into 4th place on the NBA Finals scoring list with 1,175 points, was not to be outdone and poured in 39 points, 11 boards and was 1 assist shy of a triple-double and the Cavs outpaced the Warriors by 10. However comma the Warriors flipped the script in the 4th as the Warriors went on an 11 – 0 run towards the end of the game and during that stretch, the Cavs were 0 – 8 and Andre Igoudala had redemption on James as he stripped James of the ball as he was going up for a corner three. But 35 seconds prior to that and the Warriors down by 2, Kevin Durant aka ‘The Slim Reaper’, who tallied 31 points, reeled in a rebound on a missed corner three by Kyle Korver and brought the rock down the court and noticed James behind the arc and bang, bang, bang, drained a Big Time Three to give the Warriors a 116 – 113 lead as the Cavs cacophonous crowd was censored Alliteration, I Love It! Durant was asked about that play from Doris Burke and he responded with this…. (audio insert). Klay Thompson proved that Game 2 was not a fluke and notched 30 points and Steph Curry had a double-double with 13 rebounds and 26 points as the Warriors closed out Game 3 118 – 113 to move within one game of perfection when Game 4 tips off on Friday as they look to become the first team in NBA history to go 16 – 0 en route to a Finals Championship.
