CJ netted the high score for the Blazers |
The
Mile High City was bloody popping last night, pun intended, but more on that
later as the Denver Nuggets were in search of the 2 – 0 series lead against the
Portland Trailblazers and both teams held their own in the 1st
period, but the 2nd painted a different picture. Speaking of
painting, Nuggets guard Torrey Craig suffered a broken nose in the 2nd
period and all he saw was red from his bloody nose. He had a nose issue earlier
in the season, so he already had a fitted mask which allowed him to return to
the lineup and was effective. Back to the 2nd period, as the Nuggets
could only muster 12 points and the Blazers scored 10 more to take a 50 – 35
lead into the half. The Nuggets came out more aggressive in the 2nd
and their shots were falling as they were able to cut into the lead. A little
skirmish ensued in the 4th as Enes Kanter, from a push from Nikola
Jokic, bumped into Craig and his cracked nose and Kanter and Jamal Murray had
to be separated and both were issued double technical. But at the end of the
day, the Blazers behind CJ McCollum’s 20 points, Kanter’s 15 and 9 rebounds and 33 bench
points, the Blazers even up the series 1 – 1 against the Nuggets with 97 – 90
victory.
