Game 6: Eastern Conference Finals |
Game
6 of the Eastern Conference Finals had a historical aspect tied to it as the
Toronto Raptors playing on their home-court had a chance to close out the series
against the Milwaukee Bucks and advance to their first NBA Finals in franchise
history, but needed to do something that hasn’t been done all NBA season, which
was to beat the Bucks in four straight games! The Bucks, of course, had other
plans in mind as they wanted a chance to return Fiserv Forum to force a Game 7.

Kawhi Leonard delivers the Eastern Conference Crown!! |
The
Bucks were sizzling hot and feeling themselves in the 1st frame as multiple
players scored multiple points and jumped out to a 31 – 18 lead and were ahead
by 13. But the Raptors flipped the script in the 2nd behind new
daddy Fred Van Fleet, who finished the game with 14 points and Pascal Siakim,
who finished with 18, but the duo combined for 12 of the Raptors 25 points in
said quarter as the Raptors trimmed their deficit from 13 to 7 trail the Bucks
50 – 43 at the half. To start the 3rd, both teams were trading
baskets until the Raptors said enough was enough and from 2:01 left in the 3rd
to 6:46 left in the 4th, the Raptors went on historical 26 – 3 run as
Kawhi Leonard, who became the first player in Raptors history to score 20
points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists in a playoff game as he scored or assisted on
19 of the 26 points and at the end the run, the Raptors lead 87 – 79. The Bucks
still would not retreat and with the second made free throw from Brook Lopez,
the Bucks trimmed the Raptors lead to 3 with 29 seconds left in the game and
with Siakim missing his second free throw, the rebound was corralled by Kawhi
who calmly converted a couple, Alliteration, I Love It, of free throws as he
finished with a game high of 27 points, a career high of 17 Big Boy Rebounds, 7
assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to boot as the
Raptors finish off the Bucks in
six 100 – 94 as the Raptors advanced to their first NBA Finals in franchise history
and will face off against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night, in which
they were the second team to sweep the Warriors in the regular season under
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
