Call him Mr. Triple Double! |
There
were two games that tipped off last night as both games were Game 2 of their
perspective series as the Philadelphia 76er’s looked to bounce back from their
shocking, cellphone gate Game 1 loss to the upstart Brooklyn Nets. The game was
like a see-saw on a playground in the first half as Philly won the 1st
period and Brooklyn won the 2nd. However comma in the 3rd,
the 76er’s said hold up wait a minute, let us put some offense in it and torched
the Nets for 51 points tying an NBA record for the most points in a quarter
originally set by the 1962 LA Lakers. The Nets did recover in the 4th
frame, but it was a little too late as Ben Simmons notched a triple-double with
18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 dimes and Joel Embiid notched a double-double
with 23 points and 10 boards as the 76er’s
manhandled the Nets 145 – 123 to tie the series 1-1.

State of Shock!!!! |
The
second game of the night took us back to California as the Golden State
Warriors look to take a commanding 2 – 0 series lead against the LA Clippers as
the Warriors came out running and gunning scoring 73 first half points and I was
sleepy and had to rise early in the morning and went to bed, but I digress! When
I was touched by His finger of life and awaken from my slumber, I was in
S-H-O-C-K as the Clippers bested the comeback record of the 29 points in the
playoffs set by the LA Lakers in the 1989 Western Conference semi-finals
against the Seattle Supersonics by 31! It was aided by rookie Landry Shamet’s
go ahead three with 16.5 seconds left and Lou Williams was like sun in the sky
and was cooking with 36 points and dished out 11 dimes as the Clippers tie the
series 1 – 1 with the 135 – 131 win and steal home court advantage.

DeMarcus Cousins perhaps has a torn quadriceps muscle |
For
your NBA Quick News & Notes, Golden State Warriors center DaMarcus Cousins
was chasing down a loose ball and appeared to injure his left quadriceps and
did not return to the game and is scheduled for a MRI later today and finally,
LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers was walking down the street San Francisco and reached
in his pocket to retrieve his cellphone and unbeknownst to him, a wad of cash
to the sum of $2,000 dropped out his pocket. Well, a stranger witnessed this
and promptly returned the mula back to Rivers. That was nice. Pfffff. That
would have been a nice mortgage payment, nice car payment, nice vacation
payment….I’m just teasing, not I’m not.
