Eric Gordon rises up among the enemies as the Rockets advanced
The
NBA Playoffs rolled on last night with only two games on tap, but both of the
those games were potential close out games as the Houston Rockets were looking
to stop the music on the Utah Jazz as they topped off the 1st period
knotted up at 20. But Donovan Mitchell got off to a rough start and finished 4 –
22 from the field and laid an egg out of 9 attempts from the three point arc and
despite his shooting woes and the teams overall shooting percentage at 37, the
Jazz still had a fighting chance. But the Rockets kept the pace and wouldn’t
let the Jazz go on a run as the Rockets were able to do just enough to secure
the win 100 – 93 with 26 hard earned points from James Harden and Clint Capella
notched a double-double with 15 points and 17 boards as the Rockets advanced to
their third straight Western Conference semi-final and await and the winner of
the Clippers/Warriors series.
Durant's 45 wasn't enough to beat the Clips
Speaking
of the Clippers/Warriors series, we head out to California as the Clippers were
looking to stave off elimination by the Warriors as that was gonna be a tall
task since the Warriors torched the Clippers for 41 points in the 1st
period, the third time they scored 40 during this series. But Lou Williams, who
finished with 33 points and 10 assists, stated they had a mix of arrogance and
hard work and as they the 2nd period for separation. But for the
Warriors, who got 45 career playoff points from Kevin Durant, produced some defensive
miscues and had a lack of offensive focus, couldn’t close the gap and yet
again, the Clippers S-H-O-C-K-E-D the crowd at Oracle and snuck past the
Warriors 129 – 121 to force a Game 6 on Friday night.
For
your NBA Quick News & Notes, Detroit Pistons forward Blake Griffin, who
missed some games during the 76er’s series due to his troublesome left knee,
underwent arthroscopic surgery, but he will be ready for the start of training
camp.

Kawhi was in beast mode
Booooooy
looka here! The NBA was rocking last night with four games ballin’on the
hard-court and three of them were
potential close out games as we was tip it off with my home city Orlando Magic
trying to keep the magic show going against the Toronto Raptors. The Magic,
well they were just happy to be there as they couldn’t hit diddly squat! They
shot 38% from the field, 26% percent from deep and 74% from “ the free throw
line” and was ran out of the building as Toronto was clicking on all cylinders
with 27 points from Kawhi Leonard and 24 from Pascal Siakim as the Raptors
outgunned, outmuscled, out schemed, out ran and out everything, Alliteration,
You Know I Love It, the Magic 115 – 96 as they match up against the
Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.
Joel Embiid carried his team
Speaking
of the 76ers, they were also in a potential closeout game as they faced off against
the Brooklyn Nets as the Nets were trying to compete with Orlando Magic’s
shooting percentages as they scored the least amount of points in a half this
season,whichmatched
the lowest in the shot-clock era. The only bright spot is they won the 3rd
period, but other than that, the 76er’s rung their bell 122 – 100 as Joel
Embiid notched a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as they will
battle against the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
Jamal Murray was magnificent
In
the third game of the night in The Mile High City, the Denver Nuggets got some
home cooking as they contended with the San Antonio Spurs as the Nuggets jumped
off to a hot start as they were looking to take a 3 – 2 series lead. The Spurs
were dismal in scoring the rock in the 1st and 3rd periods,
but made a tremendous run in the 4th, but it was not efficient
enough and the Spurs were whacked, walloped, and waxed, Alliteration, I Love
It, by the Nuggets 108 – 90 as Jamal Murray poured in 23 points and there were
a total of six Nuggets players in double figures and Game 6 will tip off on
Thursday.
Damian sends the Thunder home and tells them bye-bye
As Steve Harvey says on Family Feud, we gotta
good one today folks as we head to Rip City as the Portland Trailblazers were
seeking to close-out the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the Thunder wasn’t
cooperating as they ran out of the gate like a Kentucky Derby thoroughbred!
After the dust settled and runs from both teams, the Thunder led at halftime 61
– 60 as the Damian Lillard notched 34 at the break. The 3rd and 4th
periods were like a see saw on a playground, but late in the game, the Blazers
were down 15 as Russell Westbrook had a triple double and Paul George had 36. But
the Blazers had Dame Time as the game was knotted up at 115 and as the game
clock traveled down to zero, Lillard pulled up from just inside the half-court
line and drained the dagger to seal the deal 118 – 115 as Lillard finished with
a career postseason high of 50 and broke the franchise record of 10 three
pointers as they now await the winner of the Spurs/Nuggets series. Side Note:
Blazers center Enis Kanter, who finished with 13 points, 13 boards, 4 assists
and a block did so with a separated left shoulder that he suffered in the 1st
period and received a shot at halftime but gutted it out till the very end.
For
your NBA Quick News & Notes, Hall of Famer Jason Kidd and former Milwaukee
Bucks head coach, met with the LA Lakers on their coaching vacancy and the
Lakers also interviewed Tyron Lue for a second time and finally, Kelli Tennant,
the young woman who has filed a civil lawsuit against Sacramento Kings head
coach Luke Walton, when he was an assistant with the Golden State Warriors back
in 2014 for sexual assault, indicated that she scared to come forward and
stated, “this type of behavior cannot be condoned and no woman should ever be
made to feel like a victim.” If you have experienced sexual assault, please get
in touch with RAINN’s crisis hotline at 800-656-HOPE (4673).
